A Look at This Week and Beyond

It’s 2015. Can you believe it? I’ve been told that as you age time seems to speed up. Last year flew by (as we say every year around this time. ;)). And though it’s always good to reflect on the days gone by, I’m eager to move forward. So, today I’d like to share a little blog news with you and what’s in the plans for this week and this year.

HOPE International Fundraiser

On Monday, we’ll begin an exciting giveaway to continue raising awareness for HOPE International. This will likely be one of the last giveaways for the general public. After January 15, the Tri for Others team will begin concentrating on our fundraising efforts (and our various road, bike, and/or swim races!). Once the team is rolling I will begin focusing on the stories of HOPE clients, events, and other wonderful things happening in and around the ministry.

I’m grateful to have been asked to participate in the local, Nashville area, board of HOPE International where I’ll be working with others to support the efforts of Isaac Ezell and the mission of the ministry.

Check back tomorrow for more information about The Gospel Coalition National Conference giveaway!

New Voices, New Series

In 2011, I began a small e-zine called Women of God Magazine. It was my first venture into the blogging world (beyond a little family blog I owned). I was a steady freelance journalist for The Knoxville News-

Sentinel and knew that if I was going to “blog” I’d prefer to have some aspect of journalism involved. During the time I had a series called “New Voices,” which introduced my readers to new or semi-new writers, authors, and bloggers. I’m excited to bring this series back on my site!

I’m kicking “New Voices” off this week with a woman of God I highly respect. Check back on Thursday to learn more about Melissa Kruger. I’m tempted to tell you everything about her now—that’s just how excited I am to share. But I’ll wait and please do come back on Thursday!

The “New Voices” series will run once a month, typically the first Thursday of each month.

A Little More

I’m not a great blogger. There, I said it. The thought of committing to write more than once a quarter scares me. 😉 But I imagine you already know it if you’ve been visiting here. I’d like to change that a bit. Though I’m not going to commit myself to a burdensome writing schedule, I do plan to write more on this little site. I have series ideas, themes, devotionals, and a heart-pounding sense that God will be faithful to give me the words to write—if any are to be written at all. I’m excited and eager…and I haven’t felt this way in a while regarding writing. Let’s explore the Scriptures together as well as issues concerning society, news, events and more!

A New(ish) Look

In a few short weeks this site will have a facelift. Nothing drastic…I don’t believe. I’m not creative so I ask the creative folks around me to do their thing and then I step out of their way. (If you haven’t noticed, my front page is still announcing that United will release in March of 2014…Help please!) But there will be updates including more information about my new book Fear and Faith.

I’m grateful to have a web designer come in and make this site function so I can serve more effectively. It’s a joy to watch image bearers of God use the gifts He has given them.  Owning a website and writing provides unimaginable opportunities to display the glory of God.

I hope you’ll stick around or come back around if you, too, have been away. Looking forward to this new year with you.
