Who Am I?

I am His creation: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1). He created male and female in his own image (Gen. 1:26-28). He created me. He knit me together in my mother’s womb. He thought through the DNA that would give me my distinctive characteristics. All my inward parts, He created them (Psalm 139:13-14).

I am born-again:  I was created and born of my mother; but that was only my first birth—a lesser birth. Before the foundations of the world God thought of me (Eph. 1:4). And then in 2000 He revealed Himself to me and showed me His grace. God caused me to be born again to a living hope (1 Pet. 1:3). Beautiful feet brought me the Good News and I heard, I was given faith, and I believed (Rom. 10:14-17). And I understood, by grace I am saved and not by good works, it is a free gift from God (Eph. 2:8).

I am His daughter: I am a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 5:17). Believing gave me the right to become His child (John 1:12). I am adopted and can call on my Abba, Father(Rom. 8: 14-15). Like any good father, He disciplines and teaches me (Heb. 12:3-11). And He shows His fatherly love in that He first loved me and gave His only Son for me (John 3:16). His perfect love casts out all my vain fears (1 John 4:13-19).

I am His Bride and He is my friend: Jesus died for his church, his bride, in which I am a part, and he will one day return to be united to Her (Rev. 19: 6-10). Because I abide in him and he in me, I have confidence–not in me but in him (1 John 2:28-29). And because he is faithful, honest, and true I believe his words that he will finish the good work he began in me (Phil. 1:6). He has shown his great love in that he laid down his life for me, there is no greater love. I desire to be His friend and do what he commands– not to earn his favor that has already been won–but because I love him (John 15:12-17).

I am the receiver of good gifts:  There isn’t another who gives a better gift (Matt. 7:11). His power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, He has done this work (2 Pet. 1:3). I have been given the title bride and am now one with another receiver of good things (Matt. 19:4-6). And the two of us joined together and have been given the gift of children (Psalm 127:3) and I the title of Mother.

I have only scratched the surface of who I am in Christ. There is no greater blessing than to have a life hidden with Christ—to be new (Col 3:3).

My question for you is, who are you?
